WITH LINWOOD, FAMILY IS WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

Artist Lin Babb believes that a simple life is worth living. He values hard work, but even more he values those who he shares life with. Every Linwood product is handcrafted in the same country work shed Lin has created his own family’s treasures for years. Woodcraft carved out of walnut, cherry, and maple; the process is a long one, but the quality and beauty is worth every second. Each handcrafted cutting board and serving board Lin carves with soul, durability and more than a little bit of sweat. Lin’s is a life that the passage of time has infused with sturdiness, an appreciation for beauty, and humility in the graces he feels he has been given. Each unique piece he carves is infused similarly. 

YOU ARE A PART OF YOUR PIECE

When you order your handcrafted piece, you are welcomed into Lin’s workshop (figuratively speaking) and can be there for every step of the process. Do you want pictures of the wood from tree to board? You’ve got it. This is a family affair and we want you to be a part of the process.Quality and durability are equally as important as the aesthetics of each piece that Lin carves. Individually, they take on lives and histories of their own in his workshop, then their histories are made richer in your home to use, display, and pass on to your family’s next generation. Lin likes to say he “plans with a loose grip”, which to him means he enjoys the process and where it takes him from start to finish as much as he (but mostly you) enjoys the finished product. At Linwood, there is no such thing as a “Big Picture” without the hundreds of “Little Pictures” that precede it.

Linwood handcrafted cutting boards, cheese boards, breadboards, and serving pieces are one-of-a-kind and made with the care of a carpenter who has honed his craft and technique over decades.

In a world full of hustle and bustle, Linwood pieces are designed for the gourmand who prefers to slow things down and enjoy the time we have together. Dedicating a minimum of five hours to each unique piece, Linwood handcrafted cutting boards mean as much to the artist as it will to you and your family. The pride Lin puts into each piece is evident, because to him the process means as much as the finished product will to you.

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET

While each piece is solid and opaque, Linwood’s process is completely transparent. It is your unique handcrafted cutting board and you’re invited to be a part of the process as much or as little as you’d like. Lin will be happy to fill you in every step of the way.

Each piece of wood is unique; knots, curves, and all. Planning the end result for each handcrafted piece is as well. Each project is adaptable as it grows. The original idea may evolve, but the final piece will remain for a lifetime. We enjoy the process.
